Rest day in San Juan de Ortega

It is very cold this morning....4’ overnight. Brrrrrrrrr.

There were pilgrims who were tenting last night.

We are heading to the other albergue for cafe con leche and some breakfast.  It is soooooo quiet and peaceful.

We are the only two who stayed behind.  Everyone has moved on.
So we decided to take a wee walk on our day of rest.

There is frost everywhere because of the cold.  It is beautiful.

Surrounded by sunflower fields.

It was a 5 km walk to the nearest town.....but the town is almost completely deserted. So we stayed warm with the walk....received some Vitamin D, put in a few hours.....and now we are back at the hostel.
And pilgrims are starting to arrive.

I love this sign.

We sat here for a good 2-3 hours and enjoyed a drink and pizza.  Some pilgrims we met on the Way, arrived here in San Juan.  So we had a catch-up with them.
Dave from Texas came through. Joe from DC. Henri who was in our albergue in Los Arcos too.

Stephan from Germany. Such a great guy. Encouraged Alexa along the way. I’m now following him on Instagram.

A few more of our strolling photos......just because it was so gorgeous this morning.

Tomorrow we have a huge hike. Our goal is to arrive in Burgos before 5pm. It’s 26+ kilometres to Burgos.  We are rested. The blisters are better.....and we are keen.
God give us strength to finish our journey.....with grace, joy and happiness.
