Because we are following the Stages (kilometres) in a Camino book I bought, we are occasionally meeting up with familiar faces along the way.
This gentleman is from Dallas, Texas. Dave, a nice guy who calls us simply ‘Canadians.’
Lovely folks from Wisconsin, who we met the very first day in Pamplona at a cafe.
Photo of Bill, Alex, Sharon, Liz and myself.
They walked into Los Arcos when we were drinking Sangria and Bill waved us down, near the cathedral in Logrono. Unfortunately after this photo was taken, Liz emailed us to say Bill collapsed and went by ambulance to the hospital. He will be ok, but their Camino is done.
Bridget from Switzerland. Found her sitting on a huge Boulder outside of Najera. It was pitch black and scary to walk any further. So we invited her to walk with us. She kept going after the sun came up.
Our welcome into Burgos was Bart and Brooke whom we met in San Juan de Ortega. They welcomed us, while we were walking in, with big waves. They are from the Netherlands. I didn’t get and photos of them or the few below.
Veronica, Fabrezio, Stefano from Italy.
Joan from Paris.
Abbey from England.
Karen and Sara from the Netherlands we did see at our hostel in San Juan de Ortega.
Young man and his Dad from Florida, originally Brazil, chatting with Alexa.
Stephan from Germany....super friendly. He is on Instagram. “Gentleman of the hike.”
Joe and Jay from Washington, DC. Last time we saw Joe was in San Juan de Ortega. His wife, Jay, had gone ahead by bus to Burgos. She was injured. While Alexa and I were watching the birds at a park in Santiago de Compostela, Joe came up to us. Their Camino is probably done as Jay is unable to keep walking. Lovely people. Since the photo was taken, they invited us for dinner while we were all there. Delicious and wonderful visit.
Our fun waiter in San Juan de Ortega.
