Rest day in Najera. We have to be out of the hostel between 8am and 1pm. Here we are trying to find an open cafe.
It is quiet and beautiful....almost magical.
The Monastero de Santa Maria. The first construction on this site began in the 11th Century.
Ruins near the monastery.
There are kings and queens buried in the monastery/church. I guess that is why they have these fun cut outs out front?
Way too much fun for us.
We saw this many times on our travels. People roasted peppers in huge barrels. The aroma is so fabulous.
Ok.....sorry not sorry.....more fun photos as queens.
Since it was gorgeous weather, we did our own walking tour of this cute village.
At least four bridges cross this stream through the town.
And quests who is sunning themselves in Europe.....the Blue Heron.
So many places to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
Trying different pinchos.....
This is tuna with friend pickles onions.
Yummy.
Hanging with my wee girl.
There was a real police presence in Najera. All day and evening. Not sure what was happening but they spent a bit of time with some Camino cyclists.
Preparing for tomorrow......washing clothes old school.
